Dr. Fred Slater has been in private practice for over 35 years.
He is a member of the California Optometric Association, the American Optometric association, and the Santa Clara County Optometric Association. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts where he received his Bachelor of Science Degrees in biology and chemistry. He earned his Doctor's Degree in Optometry from the New England College of Optometry. Prior to starting his private practice, he served as an optometrist in the United States Air Force with the rank of Captain at Beale Air Force Base. |
Dr. Slater's special optometric interests include fitting hard to fit contact lenses, co-managing lasik patients, and treating ocular infections and diseases. His other interests are traveling, playing handball, and skiing. He especially enjoys being with his family that includes his wife, his three sons, his 2 grandkids, his 1 great grandson, and their loving cavalier spaniels, Bella and Frankie.

Dr. Amy Chi, Optometrist

Before joining our practice in 2010, Dr. Amy Chi practiced for several years in the Bay Area. She has built a reputation as an exceptionally knowledgeable doctor, and is highly recommended by her patients and peers. Dr. Chi is dedicated to the highest quality of eye-care. She graduated from the University of California Davis where she received her bachelor's degree in Neurology, Physiology, and Behavior. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry.
Dr. Chi has gained a vast amount of experience by completing rotations at the Palo Alto Veterans Hospital, and Western Blind Rehabilitation Center. In addition, she has treated patients at The Eye Institute of Philadelphia where she was involved in the management of ocular disease, glaucoma evaluation, pediatric eye-care, and treatment of visual disorders. |
Dr. Chi's optometric philosophy is not only treating her patients' ocular manifestations, but to express a genuine concern for her patients' overall health. She enjoys treating ocular disease and has a passion for and specializes in myopia control through methods like CRT (ortho-K) treatment, MiSight daily contact lenses and atropine. She is proficient in Mandarin, Chinese.
Amy has 2 young boys that keep her very busy outside of work. Whenever possible, they love to spend their time in the great outdoors, playing at the beach or hiking up a mountain. Her hobbies also include golfing and crafting; any and all kinds of crafts!

Dr. Karen to, Optometrist

Dr. Karen To completed her undergraduate education at the University of California, San Diego and went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. She has gained experience in detecting ocular disease by completing rotations at the Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center in Lake Havasu City, AZ and the Community Health Centers of the Central Coast in Nipomo, CA.
With the guidance of her professors, she pursued a residency program in Pediatric Optometry and Vision Therapy at Vision Northwest–a private practice in Federal Way, WA. She received training in the evaluation and treatment of binocular vision anomalies such as strabismus (eye turn) and amblyopia (lazy eye). She is proficient in Vietnamese. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, reading fantasy novels, and watching her favorite TV shows (Bones, Gilmore Girls, Grey’s Anatomy, etc.). |

Dr. Thuy Nguyen is originally from the Los Angeles area where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychobiology at UCLA. She then received her Doctor of Optometry degree from UC Berkeley. She is certified at the highest level to practice full-scope optometry to diagnose and treat ocular diseases including glaucoma.
Dr. Nguyen is committed to providing the best quality and thorough vision care for all of her patients. She loves to share knowledge about the eyes while helping her patients see better and live healthier. In her free time, Dr. Nguyen enjoys traveling, playing tennis, and spending quality time with family and friends. |
Dr. Robert Burns, Optometrist

Dr. Robert Burns has been working with our practice for over 10 years. He is extremely skilled and respected by his patients. Dr. Burns has enjoyed practicing Optometry for over thirty years and his special interests include eyeglass and contact lens fittings, managing LASIK patients, and ocular health.
Dr. Burns grew up in Santa Cruz California. He attended University of California, Berkeley where he earned degrees in Doctor of Optometry, physiological optics, and human physiology. When Dr. Burns is not working, he enjoys fishing, scuba diving, underwater photography, and music. |
He especially enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, Natalie and Lauren. Natalie recently graduated USC Medical School with highest honors, and Lauren is a sociology graduate from U.C. Santa Cruz and is now studying to earn a degree as a veterinary technician.
